CA 12th Congressional - Mostly West side of Southern San Francisco County and Northern part of San Mateo County.
This seat was formerly held by Tom Lantos who died on February 11, 2008.

Special Congressional Open Primary Election April 8, 2008 - The winner of this election will fill the seat through the current term which goes only to January 3, 2009.
This election is “Open.” Any registered voter may vote for any candidate, regardless of party. If no single candidate achives over 50% of the vote, those with the highest number of votes from each party will face off in the June 3rd election.
Consolidated Statewide Direct Primary Election June 3, 2008 - This election is “Closed,” which means that a voter may only vote for a candidate from the same party in which the voter is registered (i.e. Democrat, Republican, American Independent, Green, Libertarian, and Peace and Freedom). The winners in each party of this election will represent their parties in the Consolidated General Presidential Election on November 4, 2008. The winner of that election will fill the seat from January 3, 2009 to January 3,2011.
